TikTok, known for its endless loop of short videos, is reportedly testing a new AutoScroll feature that automates the process of swiping to the next video.
The AutoScroll feature is designed to offer a more hands-free experience, allowing users to enjoy a continuous stream of content without manual swiping.
While there is no official confirmation from TikTok about the feature, reports suggest that some users began receiving the AutoScroll feature in early 2023, with a wider rollout occurring in recent weeks.
The feature aims to eliminate the need for users to manually swipe to the next video, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
AutoScroll, as the name suggests, disables the looping of videos, and when one video ends, it automatically transitions to the next.
This feature is reminiscent of YouTube’s autoplay, which has been available since 2014, allowing users to seamlessly watch consecutive videos without user intervention.
Despite TikTok’s characteristic looping format, AutoScroll provides an alternative for users who prefer an automated transition between videos.
It is particularly useful for situations where users want a continuous stream of content without actively interacting with the app.
While TikTok has not officially commented on the status of the AutoScroll feature, some users have reported having access to it. To check if the feature is available, users can tap and hold on any video in the For You or Following feed.
If AutoScroll is enabled, a button will appear alongside other features like Report, Not Interested, and Captions. Users can turn off AutoScroll by tapping and holding again and selecting Manual Scroll.

The potential wider rollout of the AutoScroll feature could mark a significant addition to TikTok’s user experience, catering to those who prefer a more passive and continuous consumption of content.
However, the feature has raised concerns among some users about potentially overlooking the valuable comments section, which is an integral part of the TikTok experience for many.
The AutoScroll feature, if officially launched, may offer users a choice between manual and automated scrolling, providing flexibility based on individual preferences.
